Why we fabricate every rack and canopy in-house

Fabrication work in the Simbi 4x4 workshop in Harare

Most 4x4 accessories sold in the region are designed overseas, shipped in containers and bolted on as an afterthought. They are built to fit a catalogue page, not to survive years of corrugated gravel roads, mining tracks and wet-season mud.

At Simbi 4x4 we took a different route from day one: every roof rack, canopy, service body and jerry can holder is fabricated in our own workshop in Harare. That means we control the material, the welds and the fit — and we stand behind the result.

Built for the vehicle, not the shelf

Because we fabricate to order, each rack is matched to the vehicle it will live on. A Land Cruiser 79 working on a mine has different needs to a Fortuner doing school runs and weekend trips — and the rack should reflect that.

If your vehicle is not in our standard fitment list, we measure and build to suit. That is the advantage of a workshop over a warehouse.

Repairs and changes are simple

When something is fabricated locally, it can also be repaired, modified or upgraded locally. Bend a rail on a farm track? Bring it back and we fix it. Need an extra mount for a rooftop tent later? We add it.

That ongoing relationship is something an imported box on a shelf can never offer.
